What is GE

At the core of any university’s education is a commitment to the philosophy that successful and satisfying lives require a wide range of skills and knowledge. These skills and knowledge at City University include effective communication (in a variety of forms); an appreciation of one’s cultural heritage and how it impacts the global community; an understanding of the sciences and technological change as it shapes our natural environment; familiarity with diverse cultures and how cultural movements contribute to societies and their values, and most of all an ability to reason logically and to constantly search for “meaning”.

City University of Hong Kong is deeply committed to the notion that General Education will augment and enhance specialized training of our students with the aim to cultivate a knowledgeable, informed, and workforce ready graduates to face the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
